The tradition of pastoralism here dates back to at least the 16\u1d57\u02b0 century and, according to some documents, by the beginning of the 18\u1d57\u02b0 century, there were as many as 30,000 sheep owned by the shepherds of Parre. Originally, shepherding was one of the main occupations in the rural life of Parre and the surrounding areas.
